Spring 2024 Welcome Party and Cultural Trip

Yonsei University's Global One-Stop Service Center(GOSC) supports the diverse needs of our international student community, ensuring a seamless transition into a new environment and enriching experience for all through various programs. The Global One-Stop Service Center, established for this purpose, organized a variety of events for international students in March and April of this year.

A Warm Welcome Event in March

The Global One-Stop Service Center hosted the '2024-1 Welcome Party for International Students' at The Commons(Baekyangnuri) Kwak Joung-Hwan Chanllenge Hall on March 29th, welcoming undergraduate international students from the 2nd to 4th year for the new semester.

Over 60 undergraduate foreign students from 25 countries attended the event, which was conducted in English.

The first part featured opening remarks by Associate Dean for International Affairs, Youm Sang Hoon, introducing the Global One-Stop Service Center and screening videos on immigration-related education and crime prevention.

The second part showcased various groups under the Global One-Stop Service Center, including the multinational student supporters group 'Campus Harmony Supporters', country-specific student associations (China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Malaysia, Indonesia), and the Foreign Students' Union (FSU). Following this, the FSU shared essential information for foreign students living in Sinchon. The event concluded with networking sessions and lucky draws, providing a platform for students to socialize and enjoy.

Participants expressed their appreciation, stating that the event provided valuable information for newcomers to Sinchon and offered a chance for current students to connect with their peers.

A Fresh Cultural Experience in April

In addition, on April 5th, the Global One-Stop Service Center organized a Cultural Trip for Yonsei International Students as part of the University Innovation Support Project, aiming to support the successful settlement of global talents.

Approximately 40 undergraduate foreign students from 16 countries participated in the event, which was conducted in English and Korean.

The program began with a visit to the Korea Food Grand Master Center, where students learned about traditional Korean snacks by making rice candy and wrapping it in traditional Korean cloth.

Following this, students visited Bukchon Hanok Village, where they enjoyed the traditional and modern aspects of Korea, strolling through Hanok buildings and quiet alleyways while appreciating the spring atmosphere filled with blooming cherry blossoms.

Lastly, students enjoyed a Nanta performance in Myeongdong, featuring dynamic performances and a lively atmosphere, providing them with an opportunity to experience traditional Korean arts.

A student who attended the event expressed, "Having resided in Korea for three years, this enjoyable cultural experience is a first for me. I look forward to attending the event again next semester."

Meanwhile, the Global One-Stop Service Center actively operates various programs, not only to introduce Korean culture to international students but also to enhance their job readiness skills through Career Development Programs and TOPIK Prep-Programs.
