Yonsei, Warming the community through sharing

Educational Service

Companion Project

Companion Project is a Joint Program between Yonsei University and Seoul Volunteer Service Center where Yonsei University students become mentors for young children and teenagers of the city of Seoul in an effort to promote the donation of talent and strengthen public education.

Program to experience college majors for high school students

Yonsei Dream Major Conductor is a community service where University students majoring in each study provide information to teenagers with questions and worries about their future.

Study Camp:_Yonsei Hope Expedition/EduCamp

“Study Camp Yonsei_ Hope Expedition” is a mentoring program where Yonsei University students visit middle and high school students in remote areas of Korea during their vacation ; Kangwon, Kyunggi, Choongchun, Kyungsang and Chullado to provide social psychological support and educational training.

Dream Start

Dream Start is a 1:1 mentoring program where Yonsei University students teach Korean literature, English language, mathematics, share cultural experiences, cultivate character and also provide counseling for about 50~100 under-privileged students recommended by the Seodaemungu Office.

Tutoring

Tutoring is a system where Graduate students in their 3rd of 4th year with an average grade of A- and above, teach undergraduate 1st year students in basic subjects such as English language, academic writing and other basic level courses to promote fellowship between senior tutors and junior tutees.

Community Service

Rural community service

Rural community service is an event where university students utilize their vacation to help farmers, learn the meaning of labor and experience rural life.

Coal Briquette Service

At the end of each year, Yonsei University has continuously with 130 students, faculty members and alumni members delivered coal briquettes to areas in Seodaemungu: Hongeundong, Hongjaedong and Incheon areas.

Yan Ren(延仁)Project

Yan Ren is a joint educational project where Yonsei university students in Songdo International City teach language, arts and sports after school to elementary, middle and high school students in Incheon areas.

Yonsei-Waseda rural community service

Yonsei-Waseda rural community service is a project to promote friendship between Japan and Korean university students by learning about peace and life, the importance of the environment and the differences in cultural ideas by visiting the DMZ , a place where post-war suffering still exists and at the same time where nature is well preserved.

Youth Volunteer Service Academy Activities

Together with Kayang 4 Social Welfare Center and the Youth Volunteer Service Academy to support and promote volunteer work by teenagers.

Library Hope Expedition Activities

In remote areas where information is limited, the Library Hope Expedition works to place libraries to open doors of learning and information to children, teenagers and adults.

Medical Service

Domestic Medical Volunteer work

Medical volunteer work provides free medical checkups, high blood pressure and diabetes treatment, dental checkups and health education to underprivileged households: one parent homes, multicultural families, grandparents raising grandchildren and senior citizens living on their own.

Severance Hospital Volunteer Work (Student volunteers)

YUniversity Student Hospital volunteer work involves nursing in-patients, making the patients beds, working in the hospital wards, inputting data, assisting with directions around the hospital, handing out prescriptions and working in the international clinics.

Overseas Service

Establish overseas volunteer services and social welfare networks

The purpose of the overseas volunteer work is to encourage service leadership, communication skills and global minds among members of Yonsei University but more to bring hope and laughter to those who are suffering overseas. The Volunteer Service Center in an effort to improve the quality of lives of the citizens in the 5 Asian countries(Vietnam, Nepal, Mongol, Japan, Cambodia) by establishing joint projects to link local resources and provide services to neglected children, the physically challenged and seniors. This project has particular meaning in that it is the first collaborative project model of Asian nations.

Other Services

Multi-cultural Family Literature Ceremony

The multi-cultural family literature ceremony is sponsored jointly by the ministry of gender equality and family, Bonlove‘ corporation and Yonsei University‘s volunteer service center. Under the theme ‘Literature camp with family’, the ceremony was organized to encourage Korean language learning and social participation among children and teenagers in multi-cultural families. Around 400 children and adults of multi-cultural families from Seoul, Chungchung, Kangwon, Busan and other parts of Korea participate in the ceremony.

Volunteer Work in Welfare facilities

Yonsei University sends volunteer workers and social service course students to support and assist welfare facilities near the vicinity by providing mentoring and welfare services.
