College of Medicine and College of Dentistry Actively Conduct Campus Asia Programs

Fostering global leaders through Asian-Model Dentistry Consortium

As COVID-19 decreases, Yonsei University’s College of Medicine and College of Dentistry are stepping up their Campus Asia Program (CAMPH) activities to foster global leaders.

The College of Medicine conducted a six-week short-term exchange program for specialized courses from January.

A total of 18 students participated, with 15 visiting Osaka University in Japan and three visiting Mahidol University in Thailand. Students participated in activities organized by each invited university, including clinical practice, lectures, and cultural exchanges.

Since the Campus Asia Program group of each invited university prepared the programs for students, it was possible to create a more systematic educational environment than previous outbound specialized courses, which had been conducted on a smaller scale. Also, each university directly cooperated with local communities and companies to provide students with a wide range of experiences.

Dean Eun Jig Lee of the College of Medicine said, "I am happy that the short-term exchange program was completed successfully last year, and we will create an opportunity to send students to more Campus Asia Program universities this year, including Peking University and other Chinese universities."

The College of Dentistry dispatched five students to Tohoku University in Japan from March 6 to 7. They participated in special lectures, training room practice, visits to the Tohoku University Dental Hospital, and field trips in Sendai. Also, three Tohoku University's Faculty of Dentistry students will be invited to Yonsei from April 6 to 17 for a short-term exchange program, including visits to the College of Dentistry, Dental Hospital, and Gangnam Severance Hospital.

This short-term dispatch and invitation program is a part of the Campus Asia Program of the College of Dentistry, under the supervision of the Ministry of Education of South Korea, and aims to foster global leaders through the Asian-Model Dentistry Consortium.

Dean Kee Joon Lee of the College of Dentistry said, "We hope that students can understand the global trend of dentistry through the Campus Asia Program, which involves Yonsei University and Seoul National University in Korea, Tohoku University in Japan, Peking University and Sichuan University in China, Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, and the University of Indonesia."
