Dear Yonsei Community Members:
Although the Yonsei campus has already welcomed blooming flowers, I cannot enjoy them without welcoming Yonsei students and faculty members in classrooms owing to the COVID-19 outbreak. I do appreciate supports by the students, faculty and staff members for untact/online classes in this semester.
It was expected that the expansion of COVID-19 will be stabilized within few weeks; however, we cannot find satisfactory recovery of the COVID-19 in Korea yet to resume in-class activities on campus. Therefore, the University leadership has decided to extend the period of the untact/online lecture until May 12, 2020, in order to prevent spread of COVID-19 on campus.
Including experiments, labs, and lessons, I would like to request that all the instructors will continue dedicated teachings under untact/online educational environments. By the end of April, we are planning to make announcement on the class schedule and policy so that the students and faculty members can manage remaining time of this semester.
I am afraid that it is quite a painful experience for students and faculty members to comply with unpredictable COVID-19 preventative measures and the social distancing policy. However, I believe that your continued cooperation and commitment on untact/online education will pave the way to prevail over this unprecedented pandemic crisis by COVID-19.
I am sorry to postpone our “regular” classes again, but I believe that students and faculty members will meet again in the classrooms in near future.
Yours sincerely,
Seoung Hwan Suh, President of Yonsei University
