Yonsei President Jeong Kap-young Visits Japan to Take Part in Global Advisory Council and APRU Presidents Meetings

Yonsei President Jeong Kap-young visited Japan in late June to participate in the Global Advisory Council Meeting and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Annual Presidents Meeting.

The Global Advisory Council met June 28 at Keio University. The council was founded to improve global society through cutting-edge research projects by world-class universities. Keio has been named a “Top Type” research university for the Top Global University Project, which is supported by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Currently, the presidents of five universities—University of Oxford, National University of Singapore, Australian National University, École Centrale de Nantes, and Yonsei—are members of the council’s executive committee.

On June 30, President Jeong attended the Annual APRU Presidents Meeting at Osaka University. APRU is a consortium of forty-five leading research universities in the Pacific Rim region, and Yonsei has been a member since 2013. Representatives from thirty-seven universities took part in the meeting. While there, President Jeong met with other university presidents to discuss expanding multilateral cooperative networks and increasing Yonsei’s participation in APRU.
