On November 28, the 2014 China Day Culture Festival was held in the Baekyang Concert Hall.  Over 900 Korean, Chinese, and other international students participated in the event, which showcased traditional and modern culture from both China and Korea. The festival included traditional Chinese dance and folk music performances, poetry recitals, a fashion show, medleys of Korean and Chinese pop songs, Korean fusion gukak music, and K-pop and hip hop dance performances. Son Sheng, president of the Association of Chinese Students in Korea, said: “This is the second annual China Day Culture Festival. It is a wonderful occasion to show China’s culture to Yonsei students and create a joyful interchange between Chinese and Korean culture.”

In recent years, Yonsei has made a number of efforts to promote friendlier relations among academic institutions and students from throughout Northeast Asia. In particular, Yonsei has established several academic exchanges and collaborative opportunities with Chinese universities. Currently, Yonsei has exchanges and agreements with twenty-seven Chinese institutions, including Beijing University and Tsinghua University. Along with research and academic exchanges, Yonsei has taken important measures to support more language and culture exchanges; to this end, the Yonsei Confucius Institute was established in November 2013.

Sponsors for this year’s China Day Culture Festival were the Yonsei Chinese Student Association, the Yonsei Office of International Affairs, the Yonsei Confucius Institute, the Chinese Embassy in Korea, and the Chinese Scholars Students Association of Korea.
