The Yonsei Medical Journal(YMJ),published by theYonsei College of Medicine, has received further international recognition after being officially registered in Thomson Reuters’ Science Citation Index (SCI).  YMJ is only the third Korean academic journal to be registered in the SCI, joining Experimental and Molecular Medicine and the Journal of Korean Medical Science.
YMJ was first published in 1960, and it currently appears six times a year.  The editorial board includes over seventy members, including thirty-seven international researchers from seven different nations.  In 1961, YMJ officially joined the U.S. National Library of Medicine, and the following year it became the first Korean journal indexed in Index Medicus.  Since then, YMJ has been indexed, tracked, or covered by MEDLINE, PubMed, PubMed Central, BIOSIS Previews, SCOPUS, Embase, Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), KoreaMed, Synapse, KoMCI, CrossRef and Google Scholar.  In addition to its recent inclusion in the SCI, YMJ received the 2013 Elsevier Korea Scopus Journal Award for excellence in the area of Life and Health Sciences.
