Beginning July 19, the Wonju Campus’s RC Summer Volunteer Abroad Program, supervised by Professor Kang Joon-won, spent 11 days in Indonesia, participating in cultural exchanges with students from the Indonesia University of Education in Bandung  and volunteering in the town of Cisolok, Sukabumi Regency.  For one week, the RC volunteers provided general assistance each morning at Cimaja Elementary School in Cisolok, and each volunteer was given the opportunity to teach for a day at the school.  As teachers, the Wonju volunteers provided various lectures to Cimaja students on Korean language and culture—including folk games, bead craft, and taekwondo—gave English lessons, and offered demonstrations of Yonsei’s school song and cheers.  After volunteering in the morning, the Wonju students painted murals on the outer wall of Cimaja Elementary School, and the RC Summer Volunteer Abroad Program also provided funding for the school to rebuild its dilapidated fence.  This year’s RC Summer Volunteer trip was arranged in cooperation with the Canaan Farmers’ Institute of Sukabumi, Indonesia.
