Since 2009, Yonsei’s Severance Hospital has been running its “Global Severance, Global Charity” project, which provides free medical care to patients from underdeveloped countries who are otherwise unable to gain access to essential medical treatments.  During the first half of 2013, eight patients from five different countries received care through the program. 
Launched just before Yonsei’s 125th anniversary in 2010, “Global Severance, Global Charity” was created to commemorate the spirit and devotion of Dr. O. R. Avison and L. H. Severance, the men whose hard work and dedication gave birth to Severance Hospital.  Since its establishment, “Global Severance, Global Charity” has treated 42 patients.
