The Biological Research Information Center’s (BRIC) “High Impact Journal Paper” has selected more journal articles from faculty in Yonsei University’s Department of Medical Science than from any other comparable department in Korea.  Honoring scientific journal articles with an impact factor of 10 or greater published between July, 2012 and June, 2013, BRIC’s “High Impact Journal Paper” also revealed that the research achievements of Yonsei’s Severance Hospital are unsurpassed in Korea.  During this period, the Department of Medical Science alone had six high impact papers published, with 21 corresponding authors, while Yonsei University collectively published 82.9 high impact papers, with 106 corresponding authors.
To put things in comparison, Seoul National University had only 14.7 high impact papers, with 19 corresponding authors, while Sungkyunkwan University had 9.3 such papers, with 12 corresponding authors.  Yonsei was the only institution in Korea with more than 20 corresponding authors in BRIC’s “High Impact Journal Paper.”
