Experiences of Traditional Korean Culture by trying Rice-cake Soup, New Year’s Bow, and Traditional Games Office of International Affairs held a cultural event on January 19th at the Global Lounge inviting foreign students in celebration of Lunar New Year’s Day. The event provided a meaningful chance for foreign students to experience Korean traditional culture. About 100 foreign students including foreign exchange students, Korean Language Institute (KLI) students, and Graduate School of International Students (GSIS) students attended the event and enjoyed the New Year Holidays celebration event and the scholarship award ceremony for study abroad students. The scholarship award ceremony was followed by an introduction of traditional culture which included the meaning of Lunar New Year’s Day, New Year’s bows, and rice-cake soups, which was served as lunch. Despite the initial awkwardness in the face of a foreign culture, the students were soon able to enjoy the time.
