Level One Certification by CRLA’s International Tutor Training Program Certification CETS, the consulting center for college English writing operated by Yonsei University Department of English Language and Literature and the Department’s Brain Korea 21(BK21) Committee (Chair: Professor Kim, Joon Hwan, Department of English Language and Literature) was certified as a level one tutor training program on July 1st by CRLA(College Reading & Learning Association). With this, CETS is now capable of certifying consultants who have completed CETS-created tutor training programs with an internationally recognized level one International Tutor Training Program Certification. Yonsei is now the only university in Korea to have received CRLA certification. Given that there are only 21 foreign institutions that have been CRLA-certified, CETS has successfully raised the status of Yonsei as a global university. CETS offers one-on-one counseling for students who are enrolled in college English courses to help them with their English writing. The consultants are graduate students selected from a strict process by the BK21 Committee of the Department of English Language and Literature. While maintaining its current status as a level one certifier, CETS will continue to improve its training program and counseling services in order to become a level three certifier. Since this year, the center has expanded its services to the Songdo International Campus as well.
