[YONSEI NEWS] Professor Lee Min-ku’s Research Team Publishes in Cell

Discovers New Target Protein and Proposes Treatment for Incurable Disease The research team of Professor Lee Min-ku (Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine, Yonsei University) and Emeritus Professor Kim Kyung-hwan have published their research paper in Cell, a leading journal in the specialization of life science. Published in the online journal of September 2nd, their study identifies a new target protein which can cure diseases caused by genetic defect such as cystic fibrosis and congenital hearing loss, proposing new treatment for intractable diseases. As a premier journal for life science research, Cell has an impact factor of 32.401 and is regarded as the world’s top three academic journals with Nature (IF 36.101) and Science (31.364). Professor Lee Min-ku said, “The publication in the Cell journal was possible thanks to the active cooperation of 34 medical doctors and ten clinical departments, including internal medicine, pediatric and adolescent medicine, neurology and otolaryngology”.
