The Graduate School of International Studies plans to offer diverse programs for the 2011Yonsei University Summer School. YONSEI-INDEX Design to Improve Life Summer School As a joint program between Yonsei and the Danish design foundation INDEX, the YONSEI-INDEX Design to Improve Life is to be conducted as a four-week program in July. Apart from the theoretical approach to design, the YONSEI-INDEX Design program is based on the user-centered creative mind and INDEX’s fundamental value—Design to Improve Life. While it is open to students from all majors, the program aims to provide opportunities to experience design from new approaches and to apply design to daily life. Supported by the Danish Royal Family, INDEX is a non-profit design center which holds the INDEX Award biannually. As INDEX’s first overseas educational program, the YONSEI-INDEX Design Summer School offers students at Yonsei to learn and experience design programs from Europe on Yonsei campus. Yonsei International Summer School The 2011 Yonsei International Summer School is to be carried out on Sinchon Campus for six weeks from June 24th to August 4th. Since its foundation in 1985 as the first International Summer School in Korea, Yonsei International Summer School has recruited over 1,300 students from 22 countries. This year, the program includes courses by visiting scholars from New York University, University of California, Syracuse University, and George Washington University. Other than courses, the program also provides a 3-day 2-night field trip, and special Friday-night activities, including Taekwondo, Kendo, Samulnori, and visits to traditional sites. Online registrations for the 2011 International Summer School start on May 13th.
