First visually impaired professor at Yonsei Wonju Campus Professor Choi Seong-won is the first professor at Yonsei Wonju Campus with visual impairment. As assistant professor of the College of Business Management in Wonju Campus, he teaches the graduate course ‘Organizational Behavior’ and undergraduate courses ‘Organizational Behavior’ and ‘Organizational Development’—all English lectures. Professor Choi has obtained this job with exhausting effort. His visual problems started when he was in second grade in elementary school; and eventually he was diagnosed with level 1 visual impairment. Professor Choi said, “I have always been aware of my disability, but I have never been disheartened by it—thanks to all the help from other people.” Due to his impairment, Professor Choi has been unable to read books by himself; he listens to audio books on tapes and computer files. After his graduation from Yonsei in 1997, he received two Master of Art’s diplomas—from Yonsei and Texas A&M; and received his Doctoral degree from Louisiana State University in 2010.
