The 2011 Yonsei Alumni New Year Gathering was held by the Yonsei University Alumni Association (President: Chairman of Kumho Asiana Group, Park Sam-gu) on Jan 11th at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel. Around 1,100 alumni attended the event, including Yonsei President Kim Han-joong; former Chairman of the National Assembly, Lee Man-seop; former Prime Minister, Kim Seok-soo; former Minister of Education (also executive board member of Yonsei University), and Chairman of Asea Group, Lee Byong-moo (also inspection committee member of Yonsei University). On this day, the Proud Yonseian Award was rewarded to the late and former Chairman of TS Corporation Seol Won-bong; the Distinguished Alumni Awards to the former President of Daejeon University, Shin Keuk-beom; Chairman of Samryong Trading Company, Cho Rak-kyo; Chairman of Korean Re(??) Reinsurance Company, Park Jong-won. The Achievement Award was conferred to the Chairman of Dong-guk Electronics, Kang Kuk-chang.
