Professor Jung Hyong-il’s research team, selected as a 2010 Seoul Strategic Industry Support Project The project of Professor Jung Hyong-il’s research team using biodegradable micro-needles has been chosen as a 2010 Seoul Strategic Industry Support Project, promised to receive a grant of 58 hundred million won for the next 4 years. The joint project in cooperation with Seoul National University, Dongguk University, Ewha Womans University, and Chung-Ang University is expected to commercialize well-aging beauty care products. It is anticipated that such products using biodegradable micro-needles will be successful high-value ones, also being welcomed by consumers and noted as a new source of economic vitality. The existing transdermal delivery of bioactive materials for wrinkle care, brightening care, and anti-aging showed difficulties with penetrating into the stratum corneum of skin, which resulted in insufficient and unsatisfactory effects on well-aging beauty care. However, Professor Jung’s team developed a way to overcome this weakness. By increasing the skin penetration rate of high-performance bioactive materials, this new technology can improve the efficacy of wrinkle lifting and brightening care.
