As in the previous years, Yonsei students and graduates showed outstanding performance in the state examinations in 2010. Over 50 students were selected in the 5th-Grade Open Recruitment for Civil Service (former Civil Service Examination), composing 17.3% (56) of the entire 324 successful candidates in Civil Service. Yonseians also accounted for 35.44% (28) of the 79 qualified candidates in the Finance and Economics division. In the 5th-Grade Open Recruitment for Foreign Service, 5 Yonseians were chosen—which is a decrease compared to previous years. But the total of successful candidates from Yonsei in the past 5 years amounts to 35, showing a big gap with the following universities. Among the 204 persons who passed the 46th Patent Law Examination, 15.2% (31) were Yonseians. In the 52nd Law Examination, 102 Yonseians passed the exam, reaching its highest record (12.53%). In the 45th CPA Examination, 128 Yonseians passed the exam; With 2,175 cumulative candidates, Yonsei has scored the highest number in Korea. Also, both the candidate with highest honors (Lee Ji-seon, Mathematics in Class ‘05) and the youngest candidate (Paek Soo-yon, Junior in Business Management) were Yonseians. On Jan 5th, Yonsei President Kim Han-joong invited the 160 Yonseians who passed the 2010 state examinations to ‘A Celebrating Dinner for the Candidates’.
