The delegation of Singularity University, including Professor Jose Luis Cordeiro, visited Yonsei University on November 2nd. Professor Cordeiro met with President Kim Han-joong; and they discussed the strengths of the curriculum programs carried out at Singularity University and suggestions for new programs at Yonsei. In a meeting with Yonsei Provost Yang Il-seon, Dean of Graduate School of International Studies and of Underwood International College Lee Jeon-min, Vice President for International Affairs Kim Dong-hoon, and Chairman for Global Convergence College Preparation Committee Kim Hyung-cheol, they carried out an in-depth discussion on exchange programs between the two universities. Singularity University is an academic institution in Silicon Valley whose stated aim is “to assemble, educate and inspire a cadre of leaders who strive to understand and facilitate the development of exponentially advancing technologies and apply, focus and guide these tools to address humanity’s grand challenges”. It was founded in June 2009 with corporate funding partners and sponsors such as NASA and Google. With its innovative graduate and executive programs, Singularity University has received around 1600 applicants from 80 countries for its programs next year.
