On May 12, Yonsei Law School (YLS) signed a dual degree program with the University of California Berkeley Law (Berkeley Law). The agreement specifies that from the following year YLS students who have completed two summer sessions at Berkeley Law will be awarded with both a JD and a US LLM upon graduation, which also qualifies them to take the Korean bar examination and the US bar examination. The YLS has been putting untiring efforts to be the most distinguished international law school not only in Korea but in the Asian region as well. Yonsei is nationally accredited with creating new grounds for fostering international legal practitioners. In April, YLS became a member of the Center for Transnational Legal Studies (CTLS) which is a London-based joint venture of 25 top law schools around the world. And in January, YLS signed a dual degree program with the University of Washington School of Law. Although the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law has a program with New York University School of Law, dual degree programs with America’s top law schools are very hard to find among Asian universities. In the case of Berkeley Law, the Yonsei-UC Berkeley Law Dual Degree Program was the first of its kind with a law school outside of U.S.A.
