[YONSEI NEWS] 2010 Cho Rak-kyo Economics Award to Professor Park Joon-yong, Indiana University

Professor Park Joon-yong at Indiana University Bloomington won the Cho Rak-kyo Economics Award this year. This award was founded in 2007 by Cho Rak-kyo, a graduate of the Yonsei College of Business and Economics, in order to recognize the academic achievements of Korean economists and to promote research efforts. The first awardee was Professor Choi Yon-ku (Columbia University), and the awardee in 2008 was Professor Shin Hyun-song (Princeton University). This year’s awardee is an expert in Econometrics and professor in the Department of Statistics at Indiana University Bloomington. As a graduate of Seoul National University, he received his Ph.D. in Economics at Yale University and taught at several universities both in Korea and America, such as Cornell University, Rice University and Sungkyunkwan University. His research has been published in well-known economics journals, including Econometrica and Journal of Econometrics. In 1994 he won the Cheong Ram Scholar Award and in 2004 the Maekyung (Maeil Business, MK) Economist Award. Professor Park also served as the President of the Korean Economic Association and the President of the Korean Econometric Society.
