1.8 Million Books, Automatic Checkout and Return On 19 March, at Yonsei-Samsung Library (6th Floor, Chang Ki-Won International Conference Hall), Yonsei University Library held a briefing on the completion of the Library RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) system, which was carried out as part of the second phase for constructing a U-Campus (Ubiquitous Campus). This second enterprise was, in particular, financially supported by Woori Bank. During the past year, approximately 1.8 million books were tagged with 900 MHz RFID tags, and the library was provided with new library electronic technology on the basis of the RFID system, including automatic checkout and return machines and book inspection devices. New academic information system servers and network devices were installed as well. All this will not only make library management more efficient, but also ensure fast and convenient access to library materials. Hence, a step further has been taken into constructing a U-Campus that enables its users to search and find information resources anywhere anytime.
