: Korea-US Youth Network 2010 A group of 75 university and graduate students from the United States visited Yonsei University to learn about Korea. The group was composed of America’s next-generation leaders from over 50 universities, including Harvard University. They were invited under the Korea Foundation’s invitation program ‘Next-Generation Leaders Visit to Korea’ and stayed from March 13 to 21. For 9 days and 8 nights the participants attended lectures on Korean history, politics and culture and visited various historic and traditional sites such as the Demilitarized zone (DMZ), the Panmunjom Joint Security Area (JSA) and the Korean Folk Village in Yongin. A special lecture by Thomas Underwood, the Regional Program officer at U.S. Embassy Seoul, was followed by a discussion on Korean issues with the students. Also, they experienced Korean traditional cultures such as Taekwondo and Talchum (mask dance). In addition to tracing Korea’s past, tours around Seoul city provided the next-generation leaders a greater understanding of Korea’s progress and potentials.
