A New Medicine for Anti Obesity Yonsei University and Kwang Dong Pharmaceutical signed contract for technology transfer on March 5. The company will pay for the technology transfer and develop new medicine. The technology transferred to Kwang Dong Pharmaceutical is a result of research done by a team led by Professor Park Tae-sun. The technology developed by the team is effective in preventing obesity and metabolic diseases. It is also proven to be more effective and safer than Sibutramine, which is commonly used to cure obesity by repressing desire to eat. University president Kim Han-joong said, "It is desirable to utilize the knowledge of Yonsei in our everyday lives by transferring the technology to good corporation" and "Yonsei will continue the cooperation with corporations to promote R&D activities and technological advancements." Kwang Dong Pharmaceutical is planning to enter a global market for anti obesity medicine as well as domestic market through commercializing the medicine after clinical demonstrations and test.
