Randall S. Kroszner Will Give Lectures in Spring Semester A former member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System of the United States who also worked as a member of Council of Economic Advisers under George W. Bush is invited to give lectures at Yonsei's College of Economics. Professor Randall S. Kroszner works as a Yonsei professor for a year from March and gives a lecture in "Money and Banking" with Professor Sung Tae-yoon. He will also conduct a special lecture in another class with the same title taught by Professor Park Ki-young. A small conference on "monetary policy during financial crisis and exit strategy" is scheduled as well during this semester. In the lectures, he will give his own field experience as a member of Federal Open Market Committee during the sub-prime financial crisis and teach about post-crisis monetary policy and exit strategy. Professor Kroszner graduated magna cum laude with a Sc.B. in Applied Mathematics & Economics from Brown University in 1984, followed by an M.A. (1987) and Ph.D. (1990), both in Economics, from Harvard University. He was a member of the President's Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) from 2001 to 2003. CEA is a three-member council directly under the control of US President that analyzes and interprets economic developments and advises the President on national economic policy. From 1999 to 2006, he served as the director of George J. Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State. The Center is named after the 1982 Nobel Economics Laureate George J. Stigler and is run by the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Department of Economics and the Law School. The center aims to make a unique contribution through the application of “Chicago-style” analysis to government institutions, policies and regulations affecting the private economy. From 2006, professor Kroszner served as Governor of the Federal Reserve System which controls monetary policy of the United States of America and as a member of FOMC (Federal Open Market Commitee). During the period, he also served as Chair of the Committee on Supervision and Regulation of Banking Institutions and the Committee on Consumer and Community Affairs.
