[YONSEI NEWS] Yonsei Published Largest Number of Papers Among Private Universities in Korea in 2008

The Most Active Research Institution in Korea According to a report published by the Ministry of Educational Science and Knowledge and the National Research Foundation of Korea, Yonsei’s research capability is proven to be the best among domestic private universities. The report, which surveyed 65,053 full-time faculty members in 238 universities in Korea, was released on December 28 last year, in which Yonsei University was recognized as the private university with the biggest amount of research budget and number of papers published in 2008. Yonsei had a research budget of 216 billion Korean Won, and had 1,892 published papers including 998 SCI-level papers in 2008. In 2008, 3,543,6 billion Korean Won was provided for 67,738 researches in 238 four-year universities (7.6% increase from 2007). Seoul National University took 388 billion, Yonsei 216 billion, Sungkyunkwan University 172.1 billion, KAIST 146.5 billion, and Postech 139.4 billion. The numbers of papers published are 3,227 for Seoul National University, 1,892 for Yonsei, 1,801 for Korea University, 1,485 for Sungkyunkwan University, and 1,408 for Hanyang University
