Strong cooperation of joint research, exchange, and curriculum development for the training of excellent engineers At 10:30 a.m. on October 30th, our university and Microsoft Research entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Conference Room located in the Underwood Hall. Our school's Vice President, Youn Dae-Hee, Wonju's Vice President, Jung Gab-Young, the Dean of the Engineering Department, KimMoon-gyum, Microsoft's Head Vice President, Rick Rashid, and the Chief of Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA), Harry Shum all participated at the convention to construct the mutual cooperation of revitalizing the training programs for engineers. According to this agreement, students, professors and the MSRA researchers will participate in an exchange program to develop software and technology. Moreover, education and teaching materials will also be developed and created together. When he visited, Rick Rashid explained, "I am glad to expand this cooperation with Yonsei University, for they have a large number of talented engineering students. To survive in a knowledge-based economic society, diversified exchanges and programs should be created, and Microsoft will contribute to making such an improvement. Vice president Youn Dae-Hee said, "We live in a world of technology. Therefore, it is crucial that university students get accustomed to the right form of technology, and we will assist these students to do so." Another from Microsoft stated, "We made an agreement with another school, however it was not as substantial nor as extensive as our contract with Yonsei." In order to ensure the success of the reciprocal agreement project, our university in cooperation with MSR is planning to provide financial aid to the professors. In order to develop an enhanced academic curriculum, Microsoft will also offer the source codes of Microsoft's products along with other course materials.
