-MOU with Taiwan’s National Central Library

-Makes Taiwan’s Print and Digital Resources Available

On September 22, the Yonsei University Library concluded a memorandum of understanding with Taiwan’s National Central Library. Thanks to the agreement, Taiwanese print and digital resources will be available to researchers at the new Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies, located in Liberal Arts and Social Reference Library of the Yonsei Central Library.

As part of its campaign to promote Chinese studies worldwide, the Taiwanese government has been establishing Taiwan Resource Centers in places around the globe since 2012. Currently, there are twentythree such centers, located in countries like the U.S., U.K., Germany, Japan, and Australia. Each year, the Yonsei Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies will receive a wide array of printed materials and digital resources, which will be valuable for researchers in fields that include Chinese studies, international studies, comparative literature, history, philosophy, social science, applied science, and the fine arts.

In addition to printed volumes and digital materials, the Taiwanese National Central Library will be donating facsimile editions of two national treasures. One is a Song-era edition of The Annotated Poetry of Su Dong Po, a volume of exquisite craftsmanship tha tresembles the rare woodblock-printed book created 800 years ago. The second replica is of the Diamond Sutra, the world’s earliest woodblock-printed book in dual color.

The Yonsei Library strives to enhance the university’s educational and research capacity by providing the best possible resources, information, infrastructure, and services to its users.
