-‘YSB Global Start-Up Competition’ Launched to Improve Start-Up Success

On September 30, the final round of the ‘YSB Global Start-Up Competition’ was held, allowing entrepreneurial students to put their ideas into practice, while preparing them to launch new business ventures domestically and abroad.

Each of the six teams that competed on this day had successfully passed through a preliminary round. The team Ears presented an earring that functions as a hearing aid for the hearing impaired, while Weardoc demonstrated a chair with networkconnected sensors designed to alleviate back pain. X-Designers’s idea was a device that automatically separates used needles in healthcare facilities, and NST exhibited satellite technology for both commercial and military uses. The competition was conducted in English, and each team was given 10 minutes for its presentation and five minutes to respond to questions.

Following the presentation, the awards ceremony was held. NST and Weardoc shared the Grand Prize, with each receiving 2 million won. Both teams will receive an additional 5 million won if they attend SLUSH, the largest start-up competition in Europe.

Business major Won-seok Jeong, team leader of NST, stated: “I would like to thank my teammates for putting an immense amount of effort into completing the project.” He added: “While participating in the competition, I realized that those who pursue their own venture ideas will be able to succeed by helping each other, regardless of the prevalent uncertainties in the startup environment.”
