Muak Rotary Club Embodies Yonsei Spirit for Two Decades

Almost 10 Billion Won Donated to Yonsei

For almost two decades, the Muak Rotary Club has offered generous financial donations to Yonsei. Composed entirely of Yonsei alumni, the Muak Rotary Club has donated 9.6 billion won to the university. To commemorate its twentieth anniversary, club members plan to donate an additional 100 million won this coming year.

In recognition of the club’s generosity to Yonsei, a Conference Hall in The Commons (Baekyangro Underground) on the Sinchon Campus was recently renamed “Muak Rotary Hall.” At the ceremony to mark the occasion, Yonsei President Yong-Hak Kim said: “We need ‘Pay It Forward’ with the present generation giving to the future generation. We at Yonsei are proud and grateful that Muak Rotary Club, which has paid forward for many years, is a Yonsei alumni organization.”

Muak Rotary Club President Jae-hoon Yoo added: “Today is one of the most memorable days in the past two decades of the Rotary Club. The club has already donated 9.7 billion won to Yonsei. We are determined to reach 10 billion won very soon.” He continued: “To realize the service mission of Muak Rotarians, we pledge to be even more active in providing community service.”

Donations from the Muak Rotary Club are used to provide Yonsei undergraduate students with scholarships and fellowships. The club also supports children’s centers and has formed partnerships with Rotary clubs in Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines.
