Achieving Top 50 in 11 Specific Subjects and Top 100 in 15 Specific Subjects


UK's global university assessment institution QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) announced the '2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject' on April 10th, Wednesday. Our university secured a total of 26 subjects in the world's Top 100, claiming the highest number of fields among Asian private universities.


Our university ranks in the global Top 50 in 11 subjects, and in the Top 51-100 in 15 subjects, ranking the highest number of fields within the Top 100 among Asian private universities.


The 'QS World University Rankings by Subject' evaluates rankings in five subjects: Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences & Management, Natural Sciences, Engineering & Technology, and Life Sciences & Medicine, as well as 55 specific subfields. This year, Music was added as a new subfield.


The evaluation is based on five indicators: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Research Citations per Paper, H-index, and International Research Network (IRN).


In this evaluation, our university saw an increase in rankings in all subjects compared to the previous year. Particularly, the Social Sciences field achieved its highest-ever ranking at 50th place, while Arts and Humanities, and Natural Sciences rose by 25 and 54 places respectively, showing a significant upward trend.


The 11 subjects ranked within the global Top 50 are Social Policy and Administration (17), Sports-Related Subjects (25), Library & Information Management (26), Dentistry (31), Modern Languages (34), Sociology (37), Development Studies (38), Theology, Divinity & Religious Studies (41), Communication & Media Studies (44), Politics (46), and Materials Science (49).


Furthermore, in the global Top 100, subjects such as Business & Management Studies (54), English Language & Literature (58), Business & Management Studies (Accounting & Finance) (65), Economics (66), Linguistics (71), Medicine (74), Chemistry (75), Engineering - Electrical and Electronic (78), Engineering - Chemical (80), Psychology (85), Nursing (51-100), Architecture and Built Environment (51-100), Engineering & Technology (51-100), Geography (51-100), and Engineering - Civil and Structural (51-100) are ranked, proving our university's excellence in various disciplines.



Our university has maintained its position as the top Asian private university for two consecutive years, with a ranking of 76th in both the QS World University Rankings and THE World University Rankings last year. Such remarkable achievements are supported by various research support systems and innovative educational approaches aimed at enhancing the quality of research.

In the future, our university plans to strengthen its sustainable global research competitiveness through interdisciplinary research innovation. Particularly, through research addressing global challenges such as climate change and aging, we aim to contribute to society and embody the spirit of service and dedication.
