- Yonsei Held Meeting with 10 Universities from 6 African Countries March 14, 2023

Discussed for joint strategic research and global education platform establishment
Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, held a three-day conference with ten universities from six African countries on the theme of "Yonsei-Research and Human Development Initiative" in Cape Town, South Africa, from February 17 to 19.
This conference was meaningful as it was the first new move of a South Korean university to expand its research scope and international competitiveness to establish quality cooperation with the Global South countries and deal with our era's global impact.
Representatives from a total of eleven universities attended this meeting, including Yonsei University in Korea, five universities in South Africa, including Stellenbosch University, the University of Cape Town, the University of the Western Cape, the University of Pretoria, and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as the University of Ghana in Ghana, St. Paul's University in Kenya, the University of Zambia in Zambia, the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, and the University of Malawi in Malawi.
At the meeting, Yonsei representatives shared Yonsei's recent high-tech research fields, strategic cooperation plans, and visions with universities. They also introduced the platform "LearnUs," which implements creative and innovative education.
Yonsei also discussed future research topics and cooperation plans with participating universities. In particular, the universities agreed to build together a "global education platform" for education and research cooperation by expanding topics to strategic joint research and publication and medical, including public health, environment, science and technology, and bioethics.
All participants in the conference adopted a joint declaration with this main point and agreed to continue international research and cooperation in the future.
