Mentoring for Military Children at Yonsei Murray Camp

Between January 26 and 30, the Office of Continuing Education and Development at the Yonsei Wonju Campus hosted the Yonsei Murray Camp.  This year, the event was held at Chilseong Church in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, and it welcomed thirty-one children from military families attached to the First ROK Army Command. The goal of the camp was to provide high-quality education for these children, making use of Yonsei’s human resources and networks. As such, ten Yonsei students from the Wonju Campus were selected as mentors to assist the military children in improving their English-language skills.   

To launch the English program, an opening ceremony was held with welcoming remarks from the commanding officer of the Chilseong troops. The mentors and students took part in a number of activities, including a national security education session at the Chilseong Observatory. They were also able to get a glimpse of military life, sharing a meal with troops.
