On Sunday, July 14, Park Hee-young (Physical Education) won the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in Canada after beating runner-up Angela Stanford in a sudden death playoff. Both players equaled the LPGA Tour record for the lowest total score over 72 holes at 26-under 258. This was Park’s second victory on the LPGA Tour, her first coming in November 2011 at the CME Group Titleholders in Florida, USA. Park, who birdied the third playoff hole, the par-5 18th, to win the title, also carded the lowest score of her career on Saturday, July 13 with a 61 on the par-71 course. Park made her debut on the LPGA Tour in 2008. For her victory at the $1.3 million dollar Manulife Financial Classic, Park earned $195,000 (KRW 220 million), jumping from 22nd to 13th on the LPGA money list. This is the ninth victory by a Korean golfer this season on the LPGA Tour. Park In-bee has six tour wins, while Shin Ji-yai and Lee Il-hee each have one. Park In-bee, who was seeking a fourth consecutive LPGA Tour victory at the Manulife Financial Classic, finished a distant 14th at 16-under. Lee Meena, who was three shots off the lead, came in 4th place, just behind Catriona Matthew of Scotland. Choi Na-yeon, Kang Hae-ji, and Yang Hee-young were among a group of players tied for 6th place.
