However, the winning work, “Crocodile of Gosiwon,” was unique in that it illustrated the psychological impulses of a poor person in the form of a crocodile.” Jeong said, “I was not at all expecting to win a prize and I was so surprised after getting a phone call informing me that I won that I shouted out in joy.” In regard to how she felt about becoming this year’s winner, she said, “I am really happy to have won the prize.” The Gold Prize winner of the 4th Poetry Recital Competition was Hwang Yoo-jin. Six others also received awards. This year, a team of middle school students participated for the first time and although they did not make it to the final round, their participation attracted the attention of the judges. A special prize was awarded to Kim Se-jin, Sinnung Middle School teacher, who guided the student team. After the ceremony, Professor Shim Won-sup of Inha University Center for Korean Studies held a lecture on “Up Until the Release of the Original Copies of Yun Dong-jun’s Complete Works.” Professor Shim began the lecture saying, “The most honorable moment of my career as a researcher was in 1996 when I personally faced the articles left by poet Yun.” Then, he talked about the release of the photos of the original handwritten copies of the complete works of Yun. “These works which hold great significance in the Korean academic world await the 2nd phase of research on Yun Dong-ju.”
