Yonsei University's Information Technology Research Center (ITRC) ranked the highest in terms of research capability among all humanities-related research institutes in Korea. This is a result of an analysis done by the research team of Professor Park Jong-gu (Public Administration, Kwangwoon University) on the research capability index of university-affiliated research centers. The analysis was part of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology's project, "Ways to Improve Management Support Systems of University-Affiliated Research Centers." Among 4,523 univeristy-affiliated research centers registered under the National Research Foundation of Korea, a total of 4,075 centers affiliated to four-years college were analyzed. Research capability was evaluated based on four factors including number of affiliated research personnels, number of published journals, number of seminars held, and amount of research funding received. Yonsei University' Information Technology Research Center (ITRC) received a research capability index of 5,382, which placed the center at an overwhelming number one rank among all humanities-related research institutes. Among research centers in natural science and technology fields, the Research Institute of Science for Aging was ranked 6th with an index score of 3,295, the Architectural Science and Technology Research Center ranked 7th with an index score of 3,084, and the Research Center for City and Traffic Science ranked 8th with an index score of 2,664.
