Korea has recently been selected to host the 2013 Society for Economic Dynamics (SED) Annual Meeting—the first ever in an Asian country. The announcement of the host country was made after Professor Chang Yong-seung’s (Economics, Yonsei University) presentation in the SED meeting in Belgium on July 9th. Professor Chang has been a key figure in the hosting of the 2013 SED Annual Meeting in Seoul, Korea. The 2013 SED Meeting will take place from June 27th to 29th at Yonsei University, having approximately 450 articles presented and being attended by around 600 economists worldwide. The Society for Economic Dynamics (SED) is an academic organization which explores macroeconomic theories, money and finance, economic growth, labor market, and financial policies. It was established in 1989 by American economics scholars, including Dr. Robert Emerson Lucas Jr. (Chicago University), Dr. Edward C. Prescott (Arizona University), and Dr. Thomas Sargent (New York University). So far, SED has turned out five Nobel Prize winners, including Dr. Lucas, Dr. Prescott, Dr. Finn E. Kydland, Dr. Dale Mortensen, and Dr. Christopher Pissarides. Every year several SED members are nominated as Nobel Prize candidates, including Dr. Sargent, Dr. Christopher Sims, Dr. Daron Acemoglu, and Dr. Nobuhiro Kiyotaki.
