The Campus Green Market, jointly directed by the Yonsei Green Campus Committee and Seodaemun-gu Office, was held on October 14 in front of the Yonsei Central Library. The market sold a wide range of items such as office tables, chairs, clothes, accessories, and snacks. Also, handkerchiefs were handed out as gifts instead of tissue paper. Yonsei students, faculty members, and local residents of Seodaemun-gu all together took part in the event. The name “Campus Green Market” came from the campaign to reduce waste and to boost recycling. The market put its purpose—a future of low carbon and green growth—into practice by finding new owners for used items that are still in good condition and useful. One of the selling items was President Kim Han-joong’s Mont Blanc pen. Through an auction, it was sold at a higher price than the retail price. The final bidder won the pen at 32 thousand won, but added another 13 thousand for the money to be spent for charitable purposes. All proceeds from the market were donated to a social welfare organization in Seodaemun-gu.
