A Yonsei graduate’s thesis has been published in the 2010 April volume of the IEEE Journal of Microwave Theory and Techniques, a top ranked journal on wireless communication. The thesis was written by first-author Jung Ye Seuk, 26, a graduate of the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering in 2009. Jung Ye Seuk entered Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States last year. Jung’s thesis presented a new technology that reduces the size of the Butler Matrix (BM), a core device of 4G wireless communication, to one-tenth of the previous while maintaining the performance. The journal in which his thesis was published is authoritative in the field of microwave with an impact factor of 2.711. The impact factor of journals on microwave communication is known to barely exceed 2.0.
