Dedication Ceremony for the New Campus to be Held on March 3 Yonsei University takes a new step forward to open the international campus in Songdo. Dedication ceremony for the new campus is scheduled to be held on March 3 in the lobby of Culture Center of the international campus in Songdo. On the day, the chairman of Yonsei University Foundation Bang Woo-young addresses the dedication, followed by the announcement of establishment by University President Kim Han-joong. Seo Seung-hwan, general manager of the international campus, reports the development process of the campus. University President Kim Han-joong responds to the report by delivering celebration address and conferring ceremony. The dedication ceremony is continued by performance of the orchestra from the Yonsei College of Music. Special guests including the president of Yonsei Alumni Association Park Sam-gu, mayor of the city of Incheon Ahn Sang-soo, president of Korea University Lee Ki-soo celebrates the opening of the new campus. Messages of celebration from university presidents from top universities around the globe are played, and the dedication ceremony is finished by planting trees. The opening schedule of the international campus in Songdo consists of three stages: 2010 is a campus preparation stage, 2011 a campus operation stage and 2012 an expansion stage. Education and research programs are to be arranged along with the stages in gradual pace. Administrative organizations will be installed after March when the first phase of the first stage is finished. Part of non-degree courses will be opened during the second half of 2010. UNPSD (UN Project Office for Sustainable Development) is also scheduled to be opened during the period. Education programs at the international campus are created upon the two basic axis of internationalization and hi-tech research. Besides UIC (Underwood International College) which is already decided to be relocated to the new campus, various programs such as College of Medicine, Dentistry, Asian regional studies, biomedical technology, interdisciplinary engineering, global business management are to be opened at the new campus. Undergraduate Premium Program for students in Shinchon campus, foundation program for foreign students and the International Summer School will also be opened as well.
