[INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS] Experiencing Cultural Heritage of Turkey

Turkish Week at Global Lounge Yonsei Global, which is a student organization dedicated to facilitating international exchange of cultures among Yonsei students, held Turkish Week at Global Lounge for 3 days from October 5 to 7. The event was sponsored by Istanbul Culture Center, and exhibited numbers of artworks, ornaments, clothing and ceramics from Turkey. The event also included cultural experiences. On October 5, Nazar boncuğu (boncuk) experience event was held. Nazar boncuk is a traditional accessory made of blue glass in Turkey. The name literally means “evil eye”, but it is believed to bring luck and give protection in Turkey. On October 6, Ebru (Turkish marbling) event was held. Ebru is a Turkish term of marbling, a form of art that produces shapes and patterns by floating colors on water. Students participated in the event made beautiful Ebru pictures on the day. In the special Photo Zone, students took photographs wearing traditional Turkish garments. Besides the cultural events, Erhan Atay, the director of Istanbul Culture Center, and Ilha, a student at Yonsei KLI, gave talks on Turkey.
