[YONSEI NEWS] Yonsei Neck in Neck Match with Korea University

2009 Yon-Ko Games Yonsei and Korea University, the most famous and historic rival universities in Korea, ended 2009 Yon-Ko Games in tie. Featuring five matches in baseball, basketball, ice hockey, rugby and soccer, the two universities took two matches each. Yonsei defeated Korea in basketball with a score of 74-58, Escaping from the losing streak for four consecutive years. In ice hockey, Yonsei gained 4-2 win over Korea, continuing its clean record since 1998. On September 11, the first day of the games, the atmosphere around the stadium favoured Yonsei. Yonsei was stunned as Korea University won the losing game, but made victories in basketball and ice hockey, taking 2 wins and 1 loss. On September 12, there were rugby and soccer matches. The rugby team made a draw with 18-18. They had defeated Korea with 13-12 last year. In the soccer match, Yonsei was defeated with a close score of 2-1, with its captain Lee Hyun-woong scoring one goal in the second half of the match. The Yon-Ko Games was ended with a tie of 2 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. The accumulated score of the total games so far, however, puts Yonsei over Korea with 18 wins, 14 losses, and 8 draws.
