Dean Ha Yeon-Seob of the Office of International Studies visited universities in Italy, Switzerland, and the U.K. in early September, while a delegation also participated in the European Association for International Education (EAIA) Conference and Fair to make Yonsei widely known in Europe. On September 5, Dean Ha visited the University of Naples Federico Ⅱ in Italy and met with officials working in international education to discuss signing exchange agreements and developing globalized education in both universities. On September 9, he visited the University of Geneva to meat with Recteur Jean-Dominique Vassalli and Dean Pierre Willa to sign an exchange agreement. The agreement includes exchange of students, faculty, research, and academic resources. After the agreement was signed, a formal dinner was given, during which further discussions went on. The University of Geneva is the foremost public university in Switzerland for globalization, and Yonsei University became the first institution in Korea to enter an exchange agreement with the university. Dean Ha then traveled to UK to visit the University of Warwick on September 11. The Songdo Global Campus and the possibility of establishing a subsidiary Warwick campus were the main topics of the discussions there. Strengthening Yonsei’s Presence at EAIE Conference Meanwhile, the 20th EAIE Conference was held on September 11-13 in Belgium. For this year’s conference, 3,000 education specialists from all over Europe, and ten Korean universities set up a booth, at which three Yonsei representatives were present. Various discussions went on at the conference, regarding exchange agreements, exchange programs, the Underwood International College, the Graduate School of International Studies, the International MBA program, and various exchange programs for international students. The Korean universities were very aggressive in their efforts to create a strong presence, jointly hosting “Korean Night” during the conference to introduce Korean culture and Korean universities to European institutions and organizations.
