Professor An Soon-Il of the Yonsei Department of Atmospheric Sciences was selected as the scientist of the month for October by the Ministry of Education and Korea Culture Foundation. Professor An published an article in January in the Journal of Climate, indicating the effect of global warming on the El Nino phenomenon. The El Nino is a phenomenon in which the surface temperature of tropical oceans changes in two to seven year cycles. It is considered an example of the many strange climate phenomena occurring all over the world.
