154 New CPAs, Including Youngest New CPA The Unchallenged Winner, With 1,910 New CPAs in 17 Years According to the list of new CPAs announced by the Financial Supervisory Service on September, 4, 154 were Yonsei graduates, 25 more than the runner-up. Yonsei also came in first for total number of CPAs since 1992 with 1,910, beating out Seoul National University by 259. This year’s youngest new CPA was also a Yonsei student, Kim Young-Rae (Department of Economics). Dean Kim Tae-Hyun of the College of Business explained the reasons behind Yonsei’s success. “We have been able to have a strong presence in the CPA world because the university worked to pass on the experience and renown of our alumni to our younger students. The Yonsei College of Business will focus not only in producing many CPAs but also producing creative CPAs with a sense of global trends and movements who can contribute to our society.” Professor Choi Won-Wook, the advisor of the CPA prep class showed excitement at the news. “I would like to applaud our students for coming through yet again. With the increasing need for CPAs, many students are showing interest in the profession. We will work on providing students with the most effective support.” The CPA alumni group invited the new members to a CPA night. In 2006, this group had donated one billion won to be used to build a room for the prep class in the new College of Business building, showing their love for their old college. Ranked First Among Korean Private University in the Times 2007 University Rankings This was only one of the many No. 1 crowns Yonsei holds, including first among Korean private universities in the Times 2007 University Rankings, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of Higher Education 2008 Ranking of Top 500 International Universities, and the Higher Education Evaluation Council of Taiwan Science 2007 Research Article Qualitative Evaluation. Building on this year’s inclusion in the SCI top 100, Yonsei will continue to strive to meet international standards for research. Also, the opening of the Songdo Global Academic Complex in 2010 will be another milestone in Yonsei’s development as a research-centered university. As the “First & the Best” university in Korea, Yonsei university will look beyond Korea into the world.
