President Valentin Smyntyna and delegates of Mechnikov Odessa National University visited Yonsei University on March 13 and met with President Chung Chang-Young and officers of the University to discuss possibilities for exchange and cooperation between Yonsei and universities in Ukraine. The Ukrainian delegation displayed particular interest in Yonsei’s achievements in Astrophysics and Nano-technology and took a tour of the research facilities in the College of Science. The delegation sat down with Professors Park Sang-Young (Astronomy) and Park Seung-Han (Physics), emphasizing Ukraine’s interest in nurturing the pure sciences and discussing student exchange, which may become a reality in the near future. Established in 1865, Mechnikov Odessa National University is Ukraine’s top university, with over 13,500 students and 1,803 professors.
