[Global Network] Welcoming Ceremony for ETP Korea Trainees

Training Executives from European Corporations to Become Korea Specialists A welcoming ceremony for ETP (Executive Training Program) Korea trainees was held on March 14 at the Sangnam Institute of Management. Among those attending the ceremony were: Brian McDonald, European Union Ambassador to Korea; Francis Verillaud, Vice-President and Director of International Affairs and Exchanges at Sciences Po, France; Jean Daniel Rolinet, Senior Executive Vice President of Samsung Thales; Youn Dae Hee, Vice-President of Yonsei University; Kim Tae Hyun, Dean of the College of Business at Yonsei University; and Yoon Se Joon, Director of the Sangnam Institute of Management.

ETP is a training program organized by the European Union with the specific purpose of training Korea and Japan specialists at the executive level of corporate Europe. The EU underwrites the training fees for those selected for the program, which is run jointly by Sciences Po of France, SDA Bocconi of Italy, SOAS at the University of London, England, Waseda University of Japan, and Yonsei University of Korea. The trainees received some preliminary training at Sciences Po, SOAS, and SDA Bocconi between November 2006 and March 2007, and have begun training at Yonsei’s ETP on March 19, which will last for eight months. The whole curriculum will involve learning the Korean Language and Korean businesses, and will include internships, visits to Korean corporations, and seminars on important Korean issues. Trainees will have individual tutors who will assist them in learning the language, and a various activities have been planned to familiarize the trainees to Korean culture.
