High-Efficiency Perovskite Solar Cell Developed

A joint research team led by Yonsei Chemistry Professor Dong-ho Kim and Sungkyunkwan University Professor Namgyu Park has developed a perovskite solar cell with an average power conversion efficiency of 20%. Their method of producing perovskite solar cells using “surface traps” at grain boundaries is relatively easy and economical, meaning that it has great potential for commercialization. At the same time, the team’s findings are expected to lead to further work on improving the quality of grain boundaries.

The research results were published online June 20 in Nature Energy. The article’s title is “Self-formed grain boundary healing layer for highly efficient CH3 NH3 PbI3 perovskite solar cells.”
