Career Mentoring for International Students

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) hosted the Career Mentoring Day in the Global Lounge to assist international students in finding jobs at Korean companies located both in Korea and overseas. Currently, there are nearly 1,800 international students enrolled at Yonsei in undergraduate and graduate programs.

On May 24, Young-wook Hwang, deputy section chief of Samsung C&T, and Dae Hee, a recent Yonsei graduate who works for Lotte Department Store, visited the campus to give special lectures on job-seeking strategies for international students. The next day, mock interviews and consultations on cover letters were held. In all, twelve international students took part in the event. According to one of the student participants: “I was able to reflect on myself through the one-on-one consultation, and I received coaching on how to better prepare myself when applying for jobs.”

This was the third time OIA has held the Career Mentoring Day for international students. Of the event, an OIA staff member said: “We plan to enhance students’ understanding of jobseeking in Korea by continuing to hold this event, which boosts their confidence and competitiveness.”
