UIC(Underwood International College)

Yonsei University established Underwood International College in 2005 as a highly-selective, English-language college combining the intimacy and rigor of a liberal arts program with the resources of a major research university. Providing an Ivy League-caliber education to an elite academic community, UIC has students from over 47 countries who are guided by full-time international faculty trained at some of the world’s most prestigious academic institutions. With class sizes limited to 20-30 students, UIC professors provide individualized attention to students, ensuring a supportive, demanding, and stimulating academic environment. UIC students are prepared to meet the complex challenges facing the twenty-first century through its humanities-based, interdisciplinary Common Curriculum and its sixteen majors in five academic divisions.

UIC graduates currently work at top global corporations, such as McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, Samsung, and Hyundai, and attend graduate school at Harvard, Yale, Oxford, and other elite institutions.

GLD(Global Leadership Division)

The Global Leadership Division (GLD) is a specialized and prestigious education program conducted in Korean and designed for international and overseas Korean students. This program aims to shape students into global leaders with a deep appreciation for Korean values and a strong understanding of Korean language, culture, and society. GLD emphasizes the importance of service, communication, and cultural diversity, while promoting creativity and originality through interdisciplinary study. GLD graduates will play an important role in creating the core values of the global future.

Course study in GLD includes a number of disciplines within the humanities and social sciences, and the program’s two signature majors are “Korean Culture” and “International Commerce”. Seeking to provide an intimate and international learning environment, GLD gives students a specialized education with one-on-one discussion sections, small-group seminars, independent research projects, and personalized curricula and intensive language courses. GLD also offers students specialized academic counseling services and specialized administrative services for international students. Additionally, there are specially designed student exchange programs, internship opportunities with Korean companies, and a number of cultural programs and field trips.
